la description
The impulse excitation technique is a non destructive technique that measures the resonant frequency and damping of a sample. For predefined shapes the resonant frequency, together with the sample's dimensions and weight, can be used to calculate the sample's elastic properties.
The resonant frequency and damping act as a sample's finger print. So, even for samples with no predefined shape, the impulse excitation technique can be a very interesting material characterization tool. Sample's can be measured before and after certain treatments or multiple times over large time periods to check there changing resonant frequency and damping.
