It uses two metallic wires as coating material. The wires are charged electrically with opposing polarity and guided into a pistol at an equal, controlled velocity. When the wires converge, an arc arises where sufficient heat is created and the ends of the wires melt off continuously. Compressed air blows the melted metal on to the substrate, and in this way forms a coating.
